Stalled, sort of

 This month has been filled with expected appointments, events, plus a host of unexpected stuff, some were happy, others frustrating. I flunked the patience test a few times!

However, this quilt center is done. I had perfect border fabric but not enough. Could not find it locally so ordered from a shop in the next province west. They had it at a good price, but the shipping -- yikes. Anyway, it is coming next week. So this one is on hold. The colors are way off. A deeper gold and greenish gold somehow disappeared. It is in daylight so ???

I started a March hanging for my window. People love February's heart. This one will be a leprechaun's top hat with shamrocks growing out of it. Soon to be March!

We have a family brunch on Monday, I'm to see my doctor Tuesday, hubby has surgery and will be in the hospital Wednesday, bee group meets Thursday. To offset the stress of that, one fun item on that group's casual agenda is to plan a theme basket for our guild's show in June, to be auctioned to help pay for the venue. I have way too many ideas. This and Monday should be fun. Don't know about the other two days.

Now back to work, but first to smell the roses. Our church does brunch every Sunday. We feed 300-600 people, white tables with roses on many of them. If someone helps with cleanup, they get the roses. We were given two of them a couple weeks ago and they were picture perfect, had to share this one. 

 

Busy sewing and a nice surprise

The calendar says I've not posted for nearly a month. Yikes. Busy is the reason. Two more refugee quilts on the go, no photos yet.

The other project is a pattern. I posted it some time ago on Etsy, realizing it was a "little sister" to the bigger nativity scene. One person has it -- a gift to her as the 600th purchaser of the bigger one. Last week she sent me a photo and this note. I love what she did with it:

I finished the banner created using your pattern. I did change how the sky was done and am very happy with the result. This is a 3’ x 5’ banner that will be on one side of our pulpit. There will be a matching scene of the three wise men traveling for the other side. Thank you again for the free pattern. I will be making this again for myself.

Now I must get to work on the queen-size on the longarm and the child's quilt that is an idea and a panel so far!

 

I've been busy. . .

I cannot believe the last post was more than a month ago. But I have been busy. I'm working on a charity quilt and one for my living room wall. 

The charity quilt is small so will likely wind up in one of those silent auctions where people either go big and buy a week in the Bahamas, or want something small for a gift. 

The living room is getting an original. We bought new furniture including a long, low TV stand. Not wanting to put it on the wall meant it dropped below the electrical outlet and cable receptacle on the wall that had been hidden. Rumor has it we are getting a bigger TV but in the meantime, I wanted to hide those two little white boxes. So I designed a long skinny tree with dark background and bare branches. I sewed the background together on my machine but the tree is applique. Several more football games and it will be done. No photo except a "before" one... that I cannot find. Sigh.

This past week I made a list of all the kits, patterns, planned projects, etc. and the number was large. So I used one of those 'compare and prioritize' charts. It resulted in a list of what I'd like to get done and in what order. For some reason, this makes me feel better even though it is a bit overwhelming. Too much fabric, too many ideas, no personal assistant! Here is a photo of the one that made 'first to finish' at the top of the list. 

Below is the finished version from the pattern, but because it is a medallion, I can stop when I want to, or when I run out of fabric. My version is paler and prettier than it looks in the above picture. I'm not sure I want to do all those HST, pinwheels, and flying geese, but will finish the FPP arcs.  They are easy and very pretty.

I'm still quilting

I've been working on three quilts. One is the giant Mariner's Sunset that covers our pool table. The second is a small "lick and stick" Christmas quilt with a zillion pieces and a stained glass look. The third is GD's Japanese Cherry tree... although I've been showing it off more than working on it --- which when translated means I'd not yet figured out how to quilt it! However, doing some sketching yesterday, I 've come up with a plan, so more sketching until I'm confident, and that one will go under the needle! No pictures today. Most of what I've done so far is not a significant change from what is below, except the Christmas quilt. Since it is taped to a table, I will wait until I can get it in a more photo-graphical position.
